Integration of Commercial Biomedical Device Units with CHITS and eTriage

The project intends to enhance capacities of commercially available biomedical devices with a control device that will interface with the CHITS (Community Health Information and Tracking System) and eTriage systems under development by UP Manila to provide an electronic medical records system, message handling and transmittal, respectively. The suite of sensors measure important physiologic signals such as uterine contraction, fetal heart rate, blood pressure, dissolved oxygen, pulse / heart rate; the latter three are functionalities of the original RxBox. The sensor package will be managed and controlled via commercially available general purpose computing devices such as netbooks and/or tablets. In order to localize the device, at least one unit will be kept at ASTI where it can serve as a reference device for experimentation and testing of a completely locally designed and tested tele-health solution. Aside from engineering attributes, the project should provide information also on costs of production in order to guide the cost of local development of telemedicine devices.
